COMMUNITY EVENT: UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN MADISON SPRING POWWOW

This past weekend I attended a traditional Native American Powwow in Madison, the University of Wisconsin Madison Spring Powwow. At the Powwow there were a number of different tribes represented from the Wisconsin area, both in terms of drummers and dancers. Throughout the space there were a number of vendors selling their traditional wares and behind the exhibition center, a large food tent with Native American cuisine. This was truly a celebration of Native American culture and a wonderful effort at keeping the spirit of their people alive in the present day.
